Aims/Achievements/How you can help

Aims

• Raise Awareness
Samar and Jawad are INNOCENT! We want to raise awareness about their wrongful conviction as widely as possible.

• Support the appeal against the miscarriage of justice
We fully support the legal efforts to appeal against the convictions, to prove Samar and Jawad's innocence, and to protest against the excessively harsh sentence they received. Even if they were guilty of conspiracy, their 20 year sentence would still be excessive.

• Put pressure on the relevant authorities
We call on the authorities to reveal information at hand and to continue the investigation of the actual bombings, as this will probably lead to the quashing of Samar and Jawad's convictions.

• Oppose deportation
Challenge the double punishment of the deportation orders against Samar and Jawad.

• Give practical support
Provide practical support to the prisoners in custody and in fighting their legal battle.

Achievements
One of the initial aims of the campaign was the decategorisation of Samar and Jawad. Since March 2000, Samar and Jawad are no longer Category 'A' prisoners.
